Hi i'm in the process of renovating a 1930s house - there is a horizontal crack between the ceiling and the supporting wall. This looks like it was caused when new windows were put in without a supporting lintel.

Will it cost a lot to put in a new lintel?
Could this sort of thing cause major structual damage?

Any ideas/views would be appreciated?

Thanks

Sally,
The width of the window will determine a lot.
The fact it hasnt fallen down already would suggest its not a terribly wide opening and may not need support whilst installing lintels...
A days work for 2 lads is what it should cost..lintels are cheap.
Marty.

The windows were replaced a couple of years ago and the wall is still standing so fingers crossed its not going to cost me a fortune!

Thanks for your reply much appreciated.
