Repair hole in thermalite (fireplace flume)

The people who lived in my house before me had a plasma TV mounted to the wall.

They had removed all the fireplace etc etc but they decided to drill a big hole for all the cables straigt into the now used flume and drop the cables down that....not a bad idea i suppose.

Now not that I want to put a fire back in but i do want to repair the hole , so if anyone in future does there will be no problems.
