Hi,

I have a number of minor cracks on my window sills. Pictures show just one of them.

My Questions:
1) can anyone tell what they are made of - I think concrete - would i be right. House is in London and dates to around about 1900, maybe a little before.
2) Should I bond the crack with some epoxy or glue or something prior to filling?
3) filling - would a bit of polyfilla work or should i get some specialist stuff?

Thanks

Hi

The sill looks like concrete. Crack shown appears to be as a result of settlement, so possibility of more movement as well as expansion/contraction.

Epoxy, cement or any hard forming repair will likely fail. I would use something flexible like Geocel 201 polymer sealant. You will hopefully be able to find a colour that is a near match.
