my plan is to either.
cut a rectanglular piece of plasterboard with its length about 30mm longer than the hole diameter and its shorter side the same as the hole diameter. pull some string through a small whole in the centre of the rectangular pboard with a knot and insert in in the hole and twist 90 degrees in the 2 planes and pull down whilst inserting some building adhesive, let it dry and fill.
or cut a piece of circular plasterboard about 1 or 2mm smaller than the old downlighter hole and then apply building adhesive to the outer edge of the whole and push the circular p board up into the whole and leave 1 or 2 mm to fill after drying.
any other advice please.
