Repairing/Replacing lead flashing

Hi,

i have just bought a top floor flat which has a few leaks coming through. I have been up on the roof with a roofer who has suggested the flashing needs replacing and chimneys and walls need re-rendering....i agree.

However he has quoted £6k which i cant afford......

I can put my hand to most things as I run my own part time business in property maintenance, but have never done roofing.

Can anyone give me some advice of the difficulty of the task and the correct methods?

You will need scaffolding for access unless you can access from internaly and a safety harness to go onto the roof, that alone will cost a pretty penny.
Since it is a flat are you leasehold or share of the freehold as the cost should not be borne by you alone.
