Replacement room thermostat

Hi folks, I am looking to change the room thermostat from the old fashioned dial you rotate to a new digital display model.
We currently have Drayton room thermostat model RTS1 in the lounge and a Drayton LP522 central heating controller in the cupboard upstairs.
I want to swap the room thermostat to the Digistat 3 as it has a finer temperature operation and we can programme it for different temps through the day etc etc.
My question is how difficult is it to swap?, the current thermostat is mains operated so I know I have to disconnect and make safe the mains BUT is it just a case of matching up the leads to the old model?
