Gents,
I am in need of your knowledge end experience again.
We have an upstairs toilet that was in need of updating. The black plastic cistern I replaced some 5 years ago but the outlet waste pipes had definitely seen better days. She who must be obeyed wanted vinyl down on the floor. This was reasonably easy. Replacing the pan was easy but getting the new waste flexible pan connector onto the pan was impossible. No amount of brute force or ignorance would make it go on. I then measured the circumference on the pan outlet to find that it was about 2 cms bigger that the new fittings. Duh!!! Down to Q&B and get a new close couple toilet and cistern for £50 and just about ready to go.
Here's the problem. The inlet to the cistern is a metal pipe with a stop cock on it which is great but I need to lower the shorten the throw of this pipe and put in a plastic service valve.
Is it viable to connect a plastic speedfit service valve to a copper pipe or is there a special connector that is needed. Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
