I have just moved into a house and the bulb has gone in the shaving light above the sink in the bathroom (i have no instructions). I have bought a replacement bulb (a 284mm strip light) but am having trouble fitting it.

I cannot get the old bulb out of the light fitting, which is held in at either end of the fitting. Each end is sprung, so the bulb moves either way (l or r) but not enough to remove the bulb. The fitting itself looks moulded so theres no screws that can be loosened to fit the bulb.

Has anyone got any ideas what i should be doing?

The fitting is a standard shaving lamp.

ah, but is it a flourescent tube or is it an an ordainairy lamp?

If it's 284mm, then it's a tungsten lamp 30 or 60W.

They are a b****r, try pushing a little harder....
