First but hopefully not last post. I'll also try and help where possible - I've do a reasonable amount of DIY but no trade expert., anyway here goes ...

The current bathroom floor is very creaky chipboard (which I could fix (but don't want to) covered with cheap lino. Our local reclaimation yard has truckloads of unused spare 22mm BOAT decking wood. Whilst its not waterproof in itself I want to rip out the chipboard (and all the units as part of the bathroom upgrade) and put the boards down. I can probably lay them reasonably enough (!) but how to waterproff them ? with what varnish stain, we're looking for a light oak effect stain- should I also glue the tongue and groove with waterproof glue or similar as well as 45 degree angle nailing.

Has anybody attempted anything similar - I've had a quick look thro' the archive posts but found nothing.

Thanks in advance for any replies, more specifically the useful ones :), cheers

The only snag with 'water proofing' wood is that it can't breathe - just get a good quality varnish, or paint and accept some water wil get into the wood - if the room is warm and it is not a wetroom then I wouldn't worry about it too much
