I have a question about replacing dry rotted outside wall boards from the inside. On the outside corner of my master bedroom, the corner had been exposed to water damage and left to rot away after the previous owners simply sealed and installed vinyl siding, the leaking has appeared to have been sealed but the wood is dried out and crumbling away to the touch between two 2*4's at the corner starting about half way down the wall about 5 boards in total, the outside wall is covered in shingles then Styrofoam strapping then vinyl siding.
Could I get away with removing and rebuilding the wall with the two 2*4's inside and just put the wall back in place, or will I destroy the base for the vinyl siding. Please any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

No idea, this is a UK site and we build our houses properly, out of bricks! There are a couple of Canadian and US members though who might know the answer. I'd say remove the siding and do it from the outside, it will probably be easier and quicker in the long run, plus you'll need to make sure that all the rotten timber has been removed/ treated which will be hard to do if you just come in through the back.
