Hi,
The previous owner of my house extended the bathroom and fitted a shower area. He used a room corner and put up the third solid wall for the fittings. So, anyway when I looked at the wall in the adjacent bedroom there was considerable damp. On investigation and removal of the shower (which we never used cos it stank) we've found the he tiled straight onto plasterboard, the grout was clearly compromised and it's slowly soaked into the walls. That's one internal wall and one external wall. I've taken the tiles away, soon the plasterboard too. I'm hoping the woodwork behind isn't damaged. The questions are, what should I put back in order to build a safe, and waterproof shower enclosure? and how do I tell if the wood needs replacing?
Many thanks,
Aid.
