Reposition plug socket for new cooker hood/extractor

It might be abit tight, but would this work ?
You also wouldn't have to extend the cables, but the circuit would still have to be RCD protected.

Good photo trick. :D
That would work but there is a return flange on the chimney so tin snips might have to come out. I've had a look at the original cables feeding the socket and there's no slack so either way I think I've got to extend them or place into ceiling void then run extension down within chimney part of hood. Floor upstairs is tongue & groove chipboard as house was built in 1999. That's going to be fun accessing ceiling void. Strange how jobs that look simple turn into anything but. Time to get a sparky to have a look and quote for the job.

Cheers,

Doc

If you use that method you won't need to access the ceiling void as you can run cable horizontally within 150 mm from the ceiling.

Tht would work , BUT I would`nt be happy it running off the Upstairs Sockets anyway , If doing it this way I would suggest a Sticker on the Chminey Cover stating it runs off the Upstairs Sockets and also a Sticker on the Consumer Unit advising same , I hate going to jobs where things like this are not clearly marked up
