Residual currant device - an easter cautionary tale

I thought this was whimsical anyway....

Wife calls to say that a few seconds after she turns the toaster on, the downstairs sockets' RCD trips.
After instructions given to use grill instread, I investigate said toaster, reproduce fault, and find a load of currants fallen out of Easter hot-cross buns in sticky mess between the element and some metalwork. Removed same and everything fine again.
Residual currants, I called them, to the apparent amusement of just me...

My uncle had a Westie once.

Made an excellent residual currant device if they were grounded.
