Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a filter fabric to seperate a french drain gravel fill from the soil?

How does the filter fabric not clog over time? I appreciate it is there to stop your gravel & drainage getting clogged but how does it not get clogged itself?

Thanks,

Edit - answered my own question.

After much research decided to go for a non-woven highly permiable spun fabric. It's great stuff, filters very well but water easily passes.

One problem with geotextiles is that they will eventually clog. Therefore I would suggest you look up JetFilters, these fit into the weephole at the front of the wall, and have a replaceable cartridge that contains a geotextile. This means that the cartridge can either be replaced or cleaned. This is therefore a maintainable weephole filter that can be added to pre-existing retaining walls.
