I have just bought a new house and the lawn in the back is a real mess. It's full of weeds and looks like the previous owners have had 2 fires or disposable bbqs on the ground as parts are black and full of twigs. I've never kept a garden before as it's my first property, how best can i make the lawn niec for next summer?

Clear all debris from lawn, cut the grass and apply Autumn lawn feed.
