Rights of access

Yes, Mottie and catlad, I own the loft space above my flat and three neighbouring ones. It's a 1930s building. The problem is there's only one access point in the neighbouring ones, with walls diving me from them.

Then perhaps you need to be making your own access, look into eventually removing the walls that seperate you.
A door in the partition wall would be easy, for the brick wall one I would assume that this is supporting the roof so will need you to be careful with what you do.
 
I have the lease (and now freehold) for the loft space above my flat and also the space above one flat one side and two flats the other side

What do the deeds say about access?
