I just got the dreaded letter from DVLA re. my road tax.

I had to look twice.

£50 for 12 months.

6 months not an option.

Its a Ford Fiesta diesel 1.4. Didnt think it was THAT environmentally friendly! Is this the lowest tax band now?

My Punto 1.2 petrol cost me £120 for 12 months, 17 months ago!

I LOVE going down to the post office to tax my tax exempt moggy minor. Just a really good experience. [land rover is another matter ]

I thought a 1.4 petrol and below was in the cheap band, not a diesel regardless the engine size.

I would agree - I also thought that diesel cars were on the higher tax, as they have greater CO2 emmissions than petrol cars
