We have a outside kitchen waster/run off drian that keeps getting blocked, possibly by neigbours & therefore called a man in to flush drains. Anyway, they were unsuccesssful in clearing the bloackage. I therefore decided to excuvate the area to find out what way the drains flow & see what i could do to fix the problem as the drain gully was to tight to fit ridged rods down. Anyway, ended up cracking the clay pipe and therefore the situation currently looks like this.

fortunately we are the first drain so not getting everyones muck. Anyway with clear access to the pipes I was able to rod and clear the blockage.

I am now getting ready to repair pipe work & fill hole. I have lots of ideas on how to do it, but to prevent this problem happening again i want a roddable gully or access hatch. If i went of the access hatch option, would i really need to put a gully trap in as any nasty smells would escape from the access hatch.

of can you get roddable gullys with traps?

or are they better options for doing this? also bear in mind, i plan getting pipe bits from wickes.

thats what I was hoping with the wickes gully/trap. I would prefer to buy from wickes as I can see what i am buying and plan it out.

Therefore if I added an angled bend on the gully outlet & onto the clay/pvc connector & then run a length of pipe between, that would be acceptable? as this would create an easy rodding path if needed in the future.

Excuse the picture,

Its a shame I will have to buy a 3m length of pipe, when I will only need about .5m

also, do i have to solvent weld the pipes together or does silicon lub set to cause a seal?

3 m. soil pipe from Plumb Center for £10+ vat @ the moment. (keep quiet, it isn`t brown ( underground) but who`ll see it . ;) Soil /underground pipe uPvc is all standard size. Just the colours vary ;)

Fine - silicon. You're supposed to bed the pipe in pea shingle by the way.

is there any reason why i cant use the mud for the excuvation to back fill? and then paving slabs/concrete section above to protect pipework from above.

'Cos mud will move the pipe especially when you try treading it in firm, plus then it dries out or gets wet, plus there may be sharp bits in it which may damage the pipe.

As you see fit - just letting you know what the regs say
