I have a 16' extension ladder. I used it for the first time. I had no problem getting up on my roof, but when it came to getting down from the roof onto the ladder, I had a really hard time. zi was facing the ladder but I didn't know how to turn around and make my way back down ghe ladder. I ended up coming down from the roof on my stomach onto the ladder which I know can't the the right way. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

To ascend or descend a roof one should use a roof ladder. The extension ladder should project a minimum of 1 metre above the edge of the roof and also be tied off to prevent movement.
Safe access to the roof ladder can then be made.
A slip when descending on your stomach would have resulted in sliding over the edge of the roof.

Thanks so much for your help. I extended the ladder over the top roof line as you explained, and I was able to go up and come down easily. I appreciate your advise.

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one to have done it that way first time. I ached for days, & serve me right for not finding out properly 1st time!
