Hey guys,
I'm currently renovating my garage (which is the ground floor of our terrace house) here in Netherlands.
The roof of the garage was boarded up and plastered. MY wife and I love the look of wooden joists, so I removed the plaster (which was horrible) and revealed the joists.
I managed to source insulated plasterboard locally which I am using elsewhere, and I started putting them in-between the joists as there was nothing currently. Just the upstairs floorboards. The garage will still be a living space, so I want it to be warm.
Here are a few pictures right now:
Unfortunately the joists are incredible uneven. I guess that is what happens when you buy a house built in 1900. I've managed to cut the insulated plasterboard as well as I can, but it is almost impossible to get it so close that there are no gaps.
My questions:
- is there something out there that I can use to fill the gaps? I've seen the reflective tape used before, but I wanted to plaster the roof sections in-between the wooden joists.
- and speaking of plastering... what would you do in my situation? I was thinking of plastering the plasterboard and painting it. Then on the parts that are touching the wood, have a nice wooden trim to around the wood.
Maybe I just have to continue and make everything fit perfectly?
Any help or feedback would be highly appreciated!
Thanks
