Roof straps ?

Hi everyone. I have finished (all bar the rendering) my workshop now and a roofer suggested to me about roofing straps. Not being the expert I assume this is a very good idea?. The builder /chippy who built the place has not fitted them. The side aspect where the door is has the flat roof overhanging by about 1m in a cantilever style. I was going to put a couple of 4x4 upright posts at the end of this as I don’t like the style and thought of the wind aspect hence this came up. I assume the straps are just screwed to rafters and thermalites hence the twist in them.?.
Am I correct in needing them and the design and fixing of them?.

Google BAT roofing hold down straps, there you will find a load of info, OK aimed at you purchasing BAT products [other makers exist[ especially as regards H/D straps.
