Room Stat ........ Ummm..... Its a odd beast :(

Was round at a chums house, htg as old as the hills..... But works, don't cost a lot in gas so everyones happy...... Sort of.

The room stat in the hall is set at ...... Umm...... I dunno but not massively high.

But the house gets really uncomfortably hot (Think Serengeti) then the stat clicks..... Then the house gets cold (Think Polar bears frolicking across the lounge tundra) then the cycle runs again. The stat is a Wickes jobby Is it a relatively simple case of buying a better quality stat ....... If so has anyone got any suggestions of a particular type ?

He has a open plan house & the only internal door on the ground floor is at the bottom of the stairs (Yeah the place gets absolutely taters when the front door is opened) So its not like the heat is scooting off somewhere & the stat is having to play hide & seek..... It just seems to react slowly

change the stat or if it has an anticipation heater get it wired properly

I ain't gonna touch it

But whats the basic lay mans terms meaning of a anticipation heater ? (Just fer interest) (Suppose it would be good to know what a anticipation doobrie looks like)

resistor that heats up and trips the bimettalic strip

now we get clever

it cuts down the hysteresis / reaction time

not one for trying to be a smart ass

Fair doos.......... Have we not got a bit more tech than a heat reactive strip yet ? .......... Damn shame
