I'm a little concerned with my SE's beam calcs.

We at building a 5m wide extension, at the back / end there is to be a full width & height bi folds.

The floor / ceiling is to be continuous, my SE has designed two C section beams bolted every 600mm, now each beam (bolted together) are bearing on 100 mm engineering brick either end but as this is over doors they are not restrained on each face ( one face is external )

It is a two story extension the floor joists are not transferred to the steel but the end upstairs wall and barn roof will be.

The "designed" beams are 240 * 90 * 32kg

I thought these seemed small - expensive enough of corse!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I did, Apparently its years of experience - hopefully not years spent getting it wrong!

I guess my main concern was/is the internal beam sitting on the very edge of the wall (internal cavity leaf).

However the external sits on up to 300mm either end as that's the external return (overall thickness of wall) still only 100mm wide though.

Cheers
