Hi all, the above car when driving to overtake lost power and speed although engine still running a message came up starting with 'D' then a picture of a car with a spanner in the middle of it and the words 'Limited Performance' beside it. Anyone having thoughts on that as it is running ok after someone cleared it with a diagnostic machine although he is no mechanic. Thanks for your time!

You should have logged the fault codes before clearing them to give you a rough idea on what is happening.
It could be a number of issues causing it, but it sounds as if the engine is going into limp home mode briefly when the fault occurs.
