Hi, mechanical numpty here...
A vibration has recently developed in my engine bay (Mondeo 2008 1.8 TDCI). It sounded like a blowing exhaust/manifold but when I got underneath it I found that its the air filter box (centre in the picture) that is resonating and knocking against a neighbouring hose (below/adjacent).
So I'm looking to secure some foam or maybe rubber in there to dampen the noise and any potential damage, but is it safe to do so given the temperatures in the engine bay? I don't believe the two parts it would touch get hot, but might the proximity to the engine mean I need to be careful what I use?
Thanks for any advice
