Samsung HT X50 region change

We have just acquired the home theatre system to go with our new TV.

As we are a UK/US couple we have a DVD collection from both countries - region 1 and 2.

Does anyone know how to make the player region free? I have tried all the codes I can fin by goggling but without success.

That's exactly the same thing as we would have suggested.

A quick Google shows that this set was primarily sold in the US, so its default region code is R1. If that's the case with yours then I'd say you are out of luck. A lot of the US systems can't be hacked. The firmware doesn't support multi-region coding because gear sold in the US doesn't need different regions to work correctly across the North American continent.

It's time to either replace the system with one that can be hacked, or to buy a basic DVD player that can be hacked and use that instead.
