saniflo non return valve

hi just moved into a house with a saniflo which is connected to the toilet and sink and shower basin, but when in the shower it does not drain away very quick and you end up standing in 2-3 cm of water.

Also when turn the tap on and drain the water some water comes up out of the drain in the shower, could this be the non return valve if so where is it located is it in the actual unit or in the pipe work

I have a Sanivite (grey water only not WC) and the NRV is in the outlet elbow. It consists of a small rubber flap sitting over an orifice. Carp design imho!

I'm planning to add another valve on the outlet pipework due to the 2m+ lift from the utility room in the cellar.

Doesn't sound like the non-return.

Sounds more like the pump isn't triggering or the pipework layout is poor

thanks for replys but is the NRValve in the unit or pipework? or would a simple plunger do the job

The non-return flap is in the connector on the outlet(outside the unit).

A plunger will do very little - if the unit is triggering ok when there is flow into it then the problem lies elsewhere..

If the water is coming out of the shower trap when the basin taps are run and the unit then triggers then it suggests that the pipework layout is poor/you may need non-return on the shower waste.
