I have an old house with pine sash windows, not sure how old but they are in good nick because I keep them well covered with paint outside, varnish inside. The house has solid brick walls, no cavity.
The problem is, three windows on the NE facing side of the house all let in water at the bottom, when weather conditions are high wind and rain. All the frames are well sealed to the rendered brickwork with no apparent gaps and it seems as if the water is forced in where the moveable frame meets the fixed part at the bottom or sides.
This only happens a couple of times each year and my question is whether there is a proved method of overcoming this without replacing with plastic windows which would be hard to match?
