So i've made a massive mistake. Used a tin of paint that was under the cupboard to paint the walls in the flat i'm in as i'm moving out and want the deposit back.. (was covering up some marks but started doing all the walls so it would blend in

so i scraped away the paint on the tin and noticed it was satinwood paint !!!(think it's the oil based one)

So what do i do? Can i paint over it with emulsion? do i have to sand it down to repaint?

What an idiot!

Cool I'll give it a try

some advice i've had ranges from putting lining paper, sanding down, whitespirits

Will emulsion adhere to satinwood?

The emulsion could crack over oil based satin wood, IMO it would be better to put a bridging coat on first, something like zinsser 123 or coverstain. If you do go straight over it needs a hard thorough rub down.
