When you say "lightly scratched", do you mean there are quite a few mild scratches, such as where it has been washed with a sponge that has grit on it? Or do you mean there are just a couple of light scratches on it?
If it is the second, then I find that Autoglym Resin Polish works really well. It isn't an abrasive, but if you rub it with gentle pressure then it gets scratches out. Maybe it fills the scratch with resin, I dunno. But it works.
I have heard that T-cut will knacker modern paints as you can work through the clearcoat far too easily.
If the scratches are more severe, a specialist repairer can do wondrous things. The person who replaced my rear windscreen ground broken glass against the C pillars... I was livid. Anyway, they got a company called "Chips Away" to repair it. Took the guy a couple of hours, and you could see the repair job at first. But a few months later and I can't find where the damage was. It wouldn't suprise me if the used car garages use this kind of service to prep their cars for sale, get them done in bulk.
