I've pulled out an old kitchen and found that a small part of the floor beneath is not finished to the same level as the rest. Unfortunately I want to put a refrigerator on part of it so I need to level it up. I don't have much skill with a trowel and stuff that goes off while I'm farting about. What's the best way to tackle this?

Do you intend to cover the patch with base units afterwards?
A bag of self levelling compound will possibly do the job?
Or a sand and cement thin screed.
It all depends on the finished surface that you are looking for?
Any fill material will have to be mixed and trowelled smooth even SLC.
