Hi,

I have a central heating over flow stain. I've tried to seal it with Dulux primer/undercoat, vinyl emulsion, and damp proof liquid, but the stain still shows through 2 coats of Dulux Trade matt.

Any ideas please.

Cheers, Camerart

Dulux primer undercoat is water based, you have to use an oil paint like undercoat as Andy mentioned or a shellac based paint to hide water stains properly. Make sure the water stain has fully dried out or you are wasting your time putting anything on it.

Ok, thanks both of you.

I did have doubts about the modern water based paint.

I suppose all of the coats I've put on it, will be wetting it instead of keeping it dry, as it was before I started painting

Cheers, Camerart.
