Hi, I am doing a carpentry course and one of my questions that I am a bit stick on is - State some benifits of using seasoned timber fro floor boards. If anyone has any suggestions for this question, it would be greatky appreciated. Many thanks Steve

Whilst I am on a roll what would be the thickness of a 1hour fire door and lining width to allow for a plaster skim coat

i was not going to list everything but timber does both shrink and expand
causing movement. you leave a expansion gap on flooring for instance for swelling not shrinkage

but green timber full of moisture is more likely to shrink

...yeah, but this post is about seasoned timber ya muppet.

i happen to think that even seasoned timber will shrink slightly when introduced into a heated home.

it is only when extraordinary situations occur, after laying, that the timer may swell.
