Securing wood in concrete

[Why Eye]

I want to lay gravel over a section of my garden, but need to add an edge to stop the gravel travelling.
I’ve laid some wooden battens into mortar (with a gravel bed underneath for drainage) and use screws about 1 inch proud in the under side of the wood to make them more secure in the concrete.

Is this going to work?

yes, it should last for two years before rotting away.

Did you consider brick edging?

I haven’t done much work with mortar and thought a long batten simpler than wonky brickwork…
Sounds like I’ve got two years to practise…

 

[SEDIY]

Use another piece of wood parallel and fill with concrete to form a small lip then remove when cured.
