DS40 IS slightly corrosive and WILL (in the worst case) cause leaks on old plumbing / rads. Heed the warnings on the container! X400 AFAIK is non-corrosive.
Yer - DS 40 is mostly citric acid, and X400 is mostly a "flocculating" agent - for getting particles into suspension.
DS 40 is quick, X400 takes several weeks.
