I recently bought a light fitting from IK*A... it comes with it's own ceiling rose, which has a unit for connecting 3 cables. Live, Neutral and Earth. The existing ceiling rose has about 6 cables coming into a box as it's series lighting?!?!

To fit the light, i have to remove the existing rose (and switchbox), and then have no way of connecting everything up...

Any thoughts?

yes, turn the electricity off first, access the existing rose and you will notice that the wires are in groups (probably 1,3,& 2)

you would do your self a favour if you could either mark on tie them together so you do not loose track of which is which

make a note of which the existing lights are connected to (PROBABLY the 1 & 2) connect the light to the existing wiring using 5amp connector blocks, the other (3?) remaining wires should go into a terminal block on their own.

All the above does NOT take into consideration the earth wires which should ALL be connected to those of your new light.

Incidentally it is not series wiring it is called loop in loop out
