I have heard that it is a nightmare replacing bearings on some machines. I'm reasonably mechanically competent, having replaced a drum bearing before and many motrocycle bearings.

Is the Servis Rainwave 1100 (M991W) an easy one to do or a real pig?

Take the lid off, is there a band running around the rear of the outer tub?
If there is, it's a simple job. You'll need a bearing kit (two bearings and bearing seal) and a tub seal.
If you're really unlucky the inner drum spider shaft will be grooved and pitted, rendering it useless. A new inner drum with spider may well make this machine beyond economical repair.

Thanks. I'll check. I've done one with a band around before, no probs. Don't seem to recall replacing the seal...must have been a silicone seal bodge :)
