My Dad is in hospital waiting for heart surgery.

He wants to shave his face and has asked me to buy him a Remington XR1400.

Please forgive the stupid question, but many of the reviews I have read are praising it for shaving the head. Has anyone got one? Are they good?

I can't answer your question, but I've had a Philips shaver for a good few years which works great on my face, the battery still holds up pretty good, and I haven't even needed to change the blades. Fits nicely in the hand blah blah, and can be used wet or dry. It's this one...

After being postponed several times, fingers crossed it will go ahead today.
He has a blocked Aorta and a malfunctioning heart valve.

A lot depends on the user, different face shapes need different types of shaver. I have a Panasonic (wet & dry)razor, soon to buy another. If you get him what he wants you can't be blamed if it's pants. Has he used electric shavers before?. When I first went from wet to electric I had a rash for a while, but now I've used it for years its ok, just don't leave it too long between shaves.

Nil by mouth again from Midnight, but the op did not go ahead today. Told he is 2nd on the list tomorrow..........believe it when I see it.

Thanks for everybody's kind words: much appreciated!

He had been prepared for surgery for several days, being NBM from midnight and waiting all day for the op. Finally, on the fourth day he went down to theatre.
He's much better already, one day later. His aorta was blocked 90%. Walking up the stairs blacked him out. Now he can walk a long way without ill-effect and his BP has risen from 60/45 to 100/60.
And he feels and looks so much brighter. Great improvement!
