Went today to investigate a problem with an installation.
Found the RCD incomer in a new two-way board had failed. Mechanically it would not latch.
It was supposed to be installed to feed some new sockets in the kitchen. Not so: when the RCD failed, the rest of the GF sockets went off. The kitchen sockets stayed on.
Other faults:
Top of new CU not sealed.
No warning labels for install tested, new colours or an earth terminal sticker. No MCB's marked up, either.
No PEB to water pipe.
The paperwork claimed the RF circuit had a 1.5mm² cpc. Not so, it was the old r/b cable with a 1.00mm² cpc.
Turns out this installation was completed this month by a well-known kitchen retailer.
I really felt for the customer.
