I am due to build an extension at the rear of a 1930's 3 bed semi making the current kitchen into a dining and the kitchen in the extension. The floor in the current kitchen is concrete, it looks dry but most likely it has no insulation under it and has probably been there for decades.

I need to dig up a bit of it to replace the current lead water pipe from the (soon to be) middle of the room. With the 750mm down water regs rule it is gonna be quite a big hole inside! Should I just take this opportunity to dig all the concrete out and get it replaced at the same time as the extension - nice n smooth and level then too?

Jono.
