Hi I want to put a shower in the attic, which has a sloping ceiling. What is the minimum height clearance for a shower? Thanks Zoe

I would say the minium height would be, high enough that you can stand under it.

The minimum height for a standard shower enclosure is between 1850mm and 2000mm, this is the height they are manufactured to. You will obviously need to ensure that you have enough height to stand under the shower head.

Often a loft shower will require a made to measure or bespoke shower enclosure to allow for a reduced height or the angle of the ceiling. Semi-frameless shower enclosures are suited to loft installations because the glass can be cut to match the angle of your ceiling which allows the remainder of the enclosure to be higher.

Many manufactures offer made to measure or bespoke services at cost of 30 40% above the retail price, the manufacturing lead time can vary from 3 weeks to 3 months. I have used bespoke product from Simpsons Enclosures previously and the products have always been of good quality and backed up by a guarantee.

If your requirement is for an angled shower to suit the pitch of your ceiling you may wish to contact a specialist such as Showerpower. They manufacture fully frameless shower enclosures and are familiar with the requirements for loft conversions, they can supply bespoke products from a variety of manufacturers. A spacialist such as this type of company should be able to offer advice regarding what is possible and the best type of product for your requirements.

Good luck
