(Apologies in advance for the most beginner of questions.)

Our shower hose has split. I am assuming the hose needs replacement (as I doubt it is worth repairing) however having trouble removing the old hose.

The hose goes from the bath tap mixer to the shower head. The connection on the taps is round.

How is this easily removed?
Do I need a tool or can I simply unscrew from the top?
Do I unscrew from the top, or do I need access from below the bath?

The photo tries to show the hose connection, type of hose and where hose is split...

Errr, it's going in the bin. You can afford to be a bit rough with it.

The hose unscrews from the top of the tap assembly - large or slip joint pliers required!
When you choose a new hose, go for the biggest diameter you can find, and no longer than necessary.

Thanks.

Okay. Sounds like I just need to unscrew it from the tap assembly. On closer inspection the connection is not totally circular around the top, so a spanner or pliers should do the job.

The existing hose is 1.5m however unsure of the diameter (maybe 16mm). I take it the larger diameter will provide more water flow/better shower experience?

Are the connection diameters universal or do I need to check, to ensure new hose is compatible with existing handset?

Also, the existing hose had a habit of folding/bending on itself (ie to the point of stopping the water flow). Is there a way to avoid this?

I am looking at at any 1.5m x 16mm option:

The screwed connections are universal - as far as I know! The bigger diameter the hose, the better the shower, especially on a gravity water system.
The hose ends are handed i.e one end will fit (should fit) into the taper of the wall holding system.
