Hi all,
Recently had an ensuite installed in our converted loft (now master bedroom with ensuite). The plumber explained that it was a difficult installation as the existing waste and sewer access is at the opposite side of the property. He managed to get enough drop on the toilet water (by raising the whole floor an inch) that we didn't require a macerator (phew), but explained that the shower waste would need a pump as it was even further away, was lower than the toilet waste because the shower treaty sits directly on the floor, and he had to bring the shower waste up and over the toilet waste to drop it in where it needed to go I think. We accepted that and he pointed us to an eBay pump that he said had worked well for him before, so we bought it and he installed. Since then however, we have found that the shower tray quickly fills up and begins to overflow within a few minutes of the shower being turned on. He has been back to have a look and said it was fixed but we had the exact same problem again immediately as we began using it.
We are starting to question the competency of our plumber at this stage, but we are wondering whether it's as simple as the pump not being adequate for the job. Or possibly the installation has been done wrong / badly.
Can anyone recommend the best pumps on the market for shower waste, and maybe offer some advice as to how we should try to get things working. Unfortunately we have to leave the country in a little over a month for work purposes but are seriously concerned that we won't be able to rent the property out in its current state because the shower is basically unusable.
Sorry if this question has come up before, I did do a search but didn't find anything that seemed to quite help with our situation. Thanks in advance for any help, is massively appreciated!
