I just replaced piping(1/2 inch copper to shower/ tub. The only change I can see that I made was, there was a four inch piece with a cap on it coming off the cold and hot lines near supply to tub. Could these four inch pieces be necessary for an increase in pressure? Kitchen and bathroom faucets have the same pressure as always.

If you have replaced your piping with 1/2" piping and it was previously 3/4" this could be the problem.
Also, bends in pipes are better to use than angle pieces as every angled piece restricts the pressure still further.
