Hi, i'm just about to install a new bathroom in my house and i'm adding in a walk in shower. Would it be advisable to run the shower waste right back to the soil pipe or would it be ok tied into the bath waste? not sure if this would cause problems.

Although you will need to fit an anti vac valve to prevent water from the bath removing the seal within the shower trap. In theory, water from the bath could even backflow into the shower tray (have seen it happen from a faulty saniflow valve). An easy solution will be:

The other problem will depend on how low you can actually connect to the bath waste, since obviously the pipe from the shower trap has to have a slight fall (18-80mm per metre) towards your tee in the bath waste pipe. This may require quite a high platform for the shower tray to stand on. Unless, of course, you are teeing into the waste pipe outside, in which case, how much harder would it be to extend the shower waste pipe into the stack?

Yes, separate connections are always the preffered option if you want to avoid siphoning other traps. If it's a high flow, power shower, you may need a 50mm waste if you want to avoid the shower tray overflowing!
