Hello,

I have stripped out the shower in my en suite room due to a leak from the tray and through a craked tile. This had damaged the plasterboard so i had to take this out too.

I have had a fan heater running to dry everything out for some time now and every thing is dry but there is still a mouldy damp smell coming from the wood.

Is there anything i could paint on before putting in the new plasterboard to get rid of this smell.

thanks
Trevor

Plasterboard is one of the worst things you could use to tile onto.

If it were mine I would replace the plasterboard with Aquapanel. Failing that, 18mm WBP plywood.

apologies i should have said, i am replacing the standard plasterboard with the special stuff for showers and then using sheets of laminated plywood designed for showers.....can't think of the name of it right now!

just wondering if there is a recommended product to paint onto the wooden studs to get rid of the mouldy smell.

cheers
Trevor
