Simple question i think , for a problem i'm going to try and fix and i'm sure has been asked so many times before but i cant find.....

Shower enclosure now leaks around the usual tray / tile area and i'm about to sort it out.
so..........

Please can you the best method to ensure the best job and chance of success please.
Best sealant ? Method ? anything to help me do it right first time would be great.
Oh and yes it looks as if it has been tiled down onto the tray , not behind it . :D

Buy a good anti fungal/anti mildew silicon, scrape ALL the old silicone away, off tiles, tray and out of joint then give it a good rub down with something like nail varnish remover. Run some masking tape around shower tray, about 3-4mm from tiles, run masking tape around tiles, approx 3-4 mm from tray, Now run your silicone around the joint, pushing silicone into joint for a nice fit, If you got a nice bead of silicon just remove the tape, if not a good bead, get a spray bottle and lightly spray the silicon with soapy water and run your little finger around, re-moving the excess silicon, then remove tape and you should have a nice neat finish and also a nicely packed joint between tiles and tray.
Hope this is what you were looking for

for a natural stone tile tho..some silicone wont adhere to it you will need a natural cure silicone...

Only thing I can add is that I run two beads; one with the nozzle uncut to inject silicone well into the gap between the top of the tray & underside of the tile & clean off any excess; cut the nozzle to the desired bead size & follow on immediately with a second bead between the top of the tray & face of the tile & smooth off with finger.

I never use tape; I appreciate not everyone can run it from the gun but once you’ve got the knack, its simples! ;)
