Hi folks

I am currently building a single leaf block garage with piers mid span on the side and rear walls. I am unsure about the front gable end with the main door in it, as this cant have a pier mid span for obvious reasons so:

Should this wall be double thickness?

If so is it done by laying the blocks on their side? and would this be 2 blocks on their side with 12.5mm mortar joints to equal the height of the rest of the rows?

or is it done by laying 2 leafs together

or is it a mixture of both lol

thanks

Pippo

Normally the gable can be single skin and it is tied to the roof timbers.

What span and hieght is the gable?

the garage will be 6.2m x 3.2m(gable ends) and 2.5m to eaves. not sure of pitch on roof yet so dont know exactly how high in the centre.

Normally piers are built either side of the door which then allows the gables to be single skin.
