Hi

I have a junction box behind a new oven which is too proud to allow the oven to slide in fully. I'd like to sink this into the wall to create the extra room, but the only back box I have is plastic. Any problem sinking this into the wall, I can't get a metal one and don't want to move everything?

Thanks in advance.

We only use plastic ones in plasterboard although I suppose you could use one if you wanted.

What do you mean when you say you can't get a metal one?

Also, you say junction box - these are the proper things to use:

The dickhead in the YouTube video appears to be using solid 2.5 mm2 cable, not only to supply the cooker outlet (which may be ok in some cases, but also to run between the outlet to the cooker itself.

OK - Its one of these I've used to connect oven and hob to a 45amp switch. In the end I decided to move it into the cupboard next to the oven, it should be fixed to a plastic patress or into a metal one sunk into the wall. The plastic one would have given me the same problem as it's too deep so I've just fixed this directly to the back of the cupboard, wired it all up then fixed the front plate to it. That's OK isn't it?

So use a metal one recessed into the wall.

Not really - it should be securely attached to the fabric of the building, not a piece of furniture.
