Skirting Boards

I have a few little rodents (my pets) who keep finding ways of nibbling on the skirting boards however I have put some cardboard in front of them to protect it which works in the most part.

Does anyone know how I can fix the ones they have chewed? I presume I could just paint over them? As they are all little nibbles?

A bit of filler first if necessary and then paint.

You can use poly filler, let it dry, then paint over it.

Thanks I do have some wood filler and polyfiller which I didnt even think of!!!

Thanks guys seems like I will be doing this over the next few days before they can get painted.
